We are always asked; "can i put a mix tape on the SoundLoad card?" The answer is yes! You as a DJ are an artist yourself, and DJ's have more power now than ever before, and that will continue to be seen more and more in the near future. SoundLoad Music is pioneering how DJ's can maximize their brand. Dj's who are active in a market are already putting out mix tapes. However, the question of "are they legal?"-- is still being debated.

SoundLoad Music's website has an I.P.R. (intellectual property rights) form on the registration page. This means that if you fill this out you are responsible for the contents of this body of work. But the game keeps changing, so SoundLoad Music has come up with a way to make a legal mix tape. DJ Drama and DJ Kaled both have albums out on major labels. They are not rapping on the CD, but they are getting paid, and getting SoundScans. How did they do it?

There are agreements between the DJ and the artists featured on the CD, and there is no reason you can't do the same thing. In the documents section there is a form, which basically is an agreement that you can print out and get the artist that you want to be featured on your mix tape to sign. The agreement basically says the artist is allowing their song to be on your mix tape, and that it will be registered under your name.
So you get the credit, you get the SoundScan, and you build your brand. You can even choose to split the profit with the artist and that artist can still release the same single on his own album. If the DJ has a hot enough mix tape brand, he probably has artists coming to him already. It is fair for both parties.
